Lily Swift our Admin Assistant had quite a surprise when walking to work. She discovered  a Python snake in the street. She noticed the TEN foot long python found  under a fallen  tree in Wallis Park, Northfleet, at around 10am yesterday.

She took a photograph and not knowing whether it was alive she telephoned the police.

The RSPCA sent animal collection officer Brian Milligan to the scene. Unfortunately he found the python to be dead. Investigations are ongoing to try and firmly establish how the snake died and who owned it.

A major crushing injury to the snake’s skull is unlikely to have been caused by the falling tree but more probably by a blunt instrument. It is thought to have been dead for between 24 and 48 hours before it was discovered. It is unclear whether it died prior to being placed under the tree so the RSPCA is encouraging anybody with any information to call 0300 123 8018.

Lily said that she knew that Monitor Pest Control Ltd, were used to dealing with different kinds of animal life, but this was something quite unexpected.
