WHY IS GOOD RODENT CONTROL SO IMPORTANT FOR BUSINESSES?

Every business owner knows, that a rodent infestation can cause major operational and public health issues, but as well as potential damage to buildings and contamination of stock, a rodent infestation can also seriously damage a business' reputation. This is especially true in the hospitality and food sectors, where a rodent infestation can have serious implications and even result in a business being closed down by Environmental Health.

So having a reliable and robust rodent pest management system in place, is absolutely essential for commercial premises.

WHAT'S THE PROBLEM WITH TRADITIONAL
RODENT CONTROL METHODS?

Traditional methods of rodent control include the use of rodent bait boxes used with poison, spring action mouse traps and glue traps. Whilst these methods undoubtedly work, they are far from ideal and can lead to a number of issues.

When a business has multiple traps around the building, often in hidden away places, there is a danger that rodents may not be found straight away after they die. Especially when using poison, which does not kill them instantly, meaning that even regularly checking trap locations may not locate the dead rodents. As a result, dead rodents are frequently only located after their carcass has started to decompose and is emitting a foul smell, or is attracting flies, which is never a good look (or smell) for a business!

Additionally, the use of poisons in public spaces can lead to public health and environmental concerns, and both poisoning and glue traps are likely to cause the rodent to suffer a prolonged and unpleasant death.

WHAT ARE ELECTRONIC RODENT TRAPS
& WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES?

Electronic rodent traps, trap and kill rodents, without the use of poison. Their inbuilt GPS system then sends a notification immediately that the trap is tripped, notifying us that the trap had gone off. Not only does it communicate which trap has alerted, but it is also able to tell if a rodent is trapped or if the trap has been triggered accidentally.

This allows us to instruct one of our pest control technicians to come out and remove the dead rodent and reset the trap before it starts to decompose.

While these types of traps are more expensive than traditional wooden traps and bait boxes, the benefits hugely outweigh the costs, especially for high end establishments, where reputation is everything.

They are also more environmentally friendly without the use of poisons and offer a much quicker and humane way of dispatching rodents, than poison and glue traps do.

PRIVATE LORAWAN NETWORK

The monitoring system works via a preconfigured gateway for indoor use (LAN/LTE), which uses a private LoRaWAN network.

The gateway is easy to set up and just requires an internet connection, using either ethernet, or you can activate the preinstalled SIM-card for use on a 4G internet connection.

MOTION SENSOR

The Motion Sensor can be used either in a bait station or a multi-catch device, to alert you when there is activity in the box. The sensor can also be used in hidden spaces, such as drop ceilings. By using this device, dead areas are easily monitored. Where there are bait-shy rodents, the sensor will detect their movement and enhance your current service provision.
