SQUIRREL CONTROL

Squirrel Pest Control Services

Squirrel Pest Control in the UK, for organisations throughout Kent and the South East

Grey squirrels were deliberately introduced to the UK during the 19th century and have since spread throughout most of mainland England and Wales. Mainly resident to woodland areas, squirrels are also commonly found in urban parks and gardens.

Squirrels can frequently enter roofs and domestic loft spaces looking for nesting materials. Once inside they chew woodwork, strip insulation from electrical wiring and water pipes, tear up fibreglass insulation and, occasionally, drown in water tanks.

REMEDY

Blocking entry points and gaps with wire mesh is the best solution to prevent squirrels entering roof spaces. Additionally, cutting back tree branches that give them easy access to roofs can help.

Various types of traps are available, such as one that uses a poison based on warfarin, but they can only be used by professional pest technicians. However, the release of trapped squirrels caught in live traps is illegal in the UK.

I need pest control for squirrels in my attic. Can Monitor get rid of squirrels for me?

Monitor provides pest control for squirrels in roof spaces to commercial premises and domestic properties, when contracted by a local authority or housing association.  We unfortunately cannot assist householders with privately-owned properties.

We have squirrel problems outside our business property, where they are stripping bark and causing damage to trees. Can Monitor help?

Yes. Grey squirrels cause an estimated £6-10M worth of damage to trees every year in the UK, and Monitor can help to deter them from visiting your grounds.
